Groundskeeper-Willy

The Blog of a Groundskeeper-Willy who is employed in a state high school in NSW. I like my job but can't live on the money $412.50 per week. {Now $428.56!} {Now $436.99!} {Now $455.27!}To live I will have to return to my trade so I have started looking, but so that my experiences in the education system are not consigned to the rubbish bin of posterity I am going to record them here.

What's in a name

I had to get the maintence contractors out to fix a defective power point.

{nothing gets broken it becomes defective, if it is classified as broken then the school has to pay for it as it is assumed vandalism, but defective items occur over normal usage and so the Department pays for them}

Now the first name of the electrician was, get this "Elvis"
thats pretty poor even though I have a mate called Lenin.

All the office ladies were having a quiet giggle and when he had signed out I seized the chance to announce to them that "Elvis has left the building"

Well it was funny at the time.

The tone of command

Ah yes voice control,

We had the year 6 to 7 day recently where the young ones come to do the selective schools test.
Well in canteen area with the evil parents milling around like a flock of starlings.
The chief examination officer was trying to get their attention and shut them up but could not make herself heard over the noise.

In my best range officers voice I screamed out "SILENCE"

What do you know they stopped?
